This blog chronicles my backyard Eastern Bluebirds in Norman, OK.  Began with the first brood in 2009.

I enjoy your blog. I have successfully fledged several broods over the past 2 years.

Thanks for all the helpful info. I have a bird-cam that my sons got me for Christmas. It is set up facing a street. I have two other bluebird houses facing more “open area”. My first occupants were a family of sparrows. I tried to “addle” the eggs, but they all hatched. After they fledged, I was away one weekend and came home to find a nest with a bluebird egg. I was thrilled as I only had one other successful brood, a couple of years ago. I have been watching them hatch on my TV, which is on all day and night. (It has an infra-red camera so doesn’t disturb them). I have been also taking photos and videos off the TV!
There is one egg that has not hatched. It has been over a week now, so I think it will not.
Would it help them if I removed it? It’s under the 3 squirming babies.
It’s awful hot today, so I put a pan of water on the ground near the house. I also hung a dish of some dried mealworms near them, but I see Mama bringing in bugs and grasshoppers.
Any other help would be appreciated!
